Martha with one of her favorite creations — a handmade blue amigurumi bear, crafted with love and decades of crochet experience.
Every stitch carries a story, and every bear holds a piece of my heart.
Hello there, and welcome to TopAmigurumi.com.
My name is Martha, and I’ve been crocheting for nearly 40 years — long before hashtags, reels, or viral patterns existed.
I turned 50 this year, and if there’s one thread that has run through every chapter of my life, it’s this: my love for crochet — especially amigurumi.
I grew up in a small town where creativity was stitched into everything we did. My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was just 10. I still remember the way her fingers danced with the yarn, the quiet rhythm of her hook clicking as we sat by the fireplace. My first project was a lopsided scarf — it looked more like a table runner, but I was hooked (pun intended!).
Over the years, life happened. I married, raised three children, worked jobs, lost people I loved… but through it all, crochet was my comfort, my meditation, my way to slow down. And somewhere along the way, I discovered amigurumi — those charming little characters full of personality and warmth. I was instantly in love. They reminded me of the toys I used to sew by hand as a girl.
What started as a hobby became an obsession — in the best way. I began gifting amigurumi animals to my grandkids, donating to charities, and eventually selling custom pieces at local craft fairs. People started asking for patterns, tips, tutorials… and that’s when the idea for TopAmigurumi.com was born.
This website is a labor of love. It’s not run by a big company or some fancy marketing team. It’s just me, a cup of tea, my yarn basket, and my laptop. I share my favorite patterns, honest tips, and little stories behind each creation. Every pattern here has been stitched with love and tested by these aging but determined hands.
Whether you’re brand new to crochet or have a yarn stash taller than your toddler, I hope you’ll find something here to inspire you — or at least make you smile.
From my cozy craft corner to yours,
Warm hugs & happy stitching,
Martha
